Rockside Family Dental Care Educational Programs

For decades we have had the privilege of going into classrooms with our unique approach to educating children on dental health.  Every year during the month of February, we visit local elementary schools and preschools to bring awareness to the importance of good dental health.  It is our hope that early education on good oral health habits may help minimize and/or eliminate dental health issues later in life.  If you are interested in scheduling an educational meeting for your group (school, preschool or childcare facility) please contact our office click here.  Generally we concentrate our education month in February but we are available all year with advance notice.  We will do our best to accommodate your schedule.

National Children’s Dental Health Month History

Did you know that National Children’s Dental Health Month began with a one-day event in Cleveland, Ohio and a one-week event in Akron, Ohio?  It sure did.  According to the ADA fact sheet National Dental Health was first observed in our own local cities in February 1941.

Since then the concept has grown from a two-city event into a nationwide program.  The American Dental Association held the first national observance of Children’s Dental Health Day on February 8, 1949.  The single day observance became a week-long event in 1955.  And in 1981, the program was extended to a month long celebration known today as National Children’s Dental Health Month!
